Trawling through the Technet forums and across the net this seems to be an all too common problem, but no standard responses or procedures to follow.   BTW - I have Can't Rename File Too Long Or opening a "DOS" window and using the Ren command?When you create a "New Folder", you should be able to type the new name you want if you do it immediately.
